New School
August 31, 2009
Last week, I started my internship at Peace Montessori School in Apex. Already I love the people I work with and the kids are amazing. It’s a great place to get my feet wet with the Montessori method, though I feel I still have so much to learn! Dr. Montessori said, “Education cannot be effective unless it helps a child to open up himself to life.” And that’s my task….
As for Sid, he began in the other classroom for ages 3 to 6. He was doing okay, but the teachers felt he was a little bit overwhelmed emotionally. They said verbally he is very advanced, but thought he might enjoy himself more in the toddler room — until January, anyway. And indeed, he loves being there! He seems very happy and is having fun.
I couldn’t have asked for a better start to the school year. Thanks to everyone for supporting me through my training and internship. I’ll try to post some pictures here soon, keep checking back

DC Cherry Blossom Festival
April 6, 2009
We had an adventurous trip to DC this weekend. The blossoms were in bloom, and it seems everyone from around the country was there! Sid got to ride on the subway, which he found endlessly entertaining. He also was quite giddy about riding the escalator.

Sid was unhappy that he couldn't run around by himself

Lake with Daddy and Mama
February 22, 2009
We have a lovely little lake down the road. Saturday we ended up there for a nice picnic and stroll down to the water. The birds were flying around like crazy. Sid saw some big boys’ bikes and was covetous. Maybe another year or so…

He’s definitely an only child. Lately he will do anything if he sees that we aren’t giving him our full attention, including climbing all over Daddy while he’s trying to work:

Snow Day!

Yayyy snow! Mama didnt last long in the cold though...

6 inches of snow -- Daddy throwing snowballs
Sid loved the snow, and especially thought it was funny when I showed him it’s edible
We stayed home from school today, and it looks like we have another day at home tomorrow. More cold feet and “warm” chocolate for Sid!

New Year, New Look
January 6, 2009
As you can see, Munchkinland has been revamped, and with it the first post of the new year. I think this streamlined version will make it a little easier to see the pictures. Feel free to comment on your likes, dislikes or otherwise
And thank you to Santa’s little elves who all made Sid’s Christmas amazing!
Here are our photos from our wonderful Christmas in Asheville and Shelby.
